Michele Rushfeldt – Former Head, Novice, & Senior Coach

Coach Michele has been a part of the synchronized swimming world for twenty years, beginning with swimming for the Minnesota Synchronettes, then going on to compete for the University of Alabama at Birmingham before the program closed its doors in 2010.  During her time there Michele  helped with synchro clinics and learned valuable coaching and choreographing skills while being coached by the National Team 2 coach, Lisa Riddell.

Michele moved to San Francisco and coached the San Francisco Marionettes for three years where she grew the team in size, as well as ability level, and moved them toward a more driven and goal-oriented path.

After moving to Monterey, Michele took a year off. She continued to serve as a judge as synchro meets.   She was then invited to Kingston, Jamaica for three months to help instill the fundamentals of the sport in the teams. Almost immediately after returning from Jamaica, she moved to Washington, D.C. She continues to swim and compete with the DC Synchromasters.

Synchronized swimming is an incredibly unique sport that combines strength, endurance, and beauty. Athletes cannot and will not improve or do well unless they are dedicated to improving and doing well. Coach Michele loves the sport for its hypnotizing beauty and requirement for perfection and excellence. She hopes to instill in NoVa Synchro's swimmers and in the team as a whole:  that we can work together to move toward excellence as a team in our ability, coaching, dedication, and attitude.

Michele was our head coach from 2015 to 2017. We hope she'll visit often!
