At NoVa Synchro, we offer a progressive team structure designed to support athletes at every stage of their development—from beginners discovering the sport to competitive performing at national levels.





NOVICE TEAM





Athletes in the Novice Team are in the early stages of their artistic swimming journey, building a strong foundation in the sport.


• Designed for swimmers who are new to artistic (synchronized) swimming.

• Focuses on learning fundamental skills, including basic figures, sculling techniques, and introductory choreography.

• Athletes gain experience performing in small team routines and begin to develop timing, coordination, and teamwork.

• Practices typically take place twice per week to establish consistency and reinforce technique.

• Emphasizes confidence, body awareness, and enjoyment as swimmers transition into competitive training.






Intermediate team





The Intermediate Team supports athletes as they build on their foundational skills and progress into more advanced aspects of artistic swimming.


• Ideal for swimmers with some experience in artistic swimming or strong backgrounds in swimming, dance, or gymnastics.

• Continues to reinforce core techniques while introducing more complex skills, such as transitions, hybrids, and elevated precision.

• Athletes begin to refine synchronization, spatial awareness, and routine execution.

• Focuses on small team routines to deepen performance quality and teamwork.

• Practices are held 2–3 times per week to support steady development and increased endurance.






12 & Under team





This competitive team is composed of skilled young athletes with a strong foundation in artistic swimming and a drive to compete at the national level.
• For swimmers age 12 and under with demonstrated experience and a commitment to advancing in the sport.• Athletes train a minimum of three days per week, with increased intensity and complexity in technique, choreography, and endurance.
• Additional practice days are typically required for athletes assigned to extra routines (solo or duet).• Participation in solos/duets involves added coaching, pool time, and competition entry fees—families must agree to these commitments in advance.• The Head Coach will contact parents for approval before assigning an athlete to an extra routine.
• Extra routines are carefully assessed by the coaching staff if concerns about commitment or readiness arise, the routine may not proceed.
• This team is part of our Age Group structure, which includes multiple categories based on age and skill progression.




13 & 15 team





This team includes dedicated athletes who are continuing to refine advanced skills and compete at a high level, with the goal of qualifying for regional and national competitions.

• Designed for swimmers ages 13 to 15 with significant artistic swimming experience and strong technical ability.

• Training focuses on advanced figures, intricate choreography, synchronization, strength, and artistic expression.

• Athletes practice a minimum of three days per week, with additional practices required for solos, duets, or combination routines.

• Participation in extra routines requires a higher level of commitment—families must approve added time and costs for coaching, pool rental, and meet fees.

• The Head Coach will obtain parental consent before assigning athletes to solos or duets.

• All extra routines are subject to evaluation by the coaching staff, who may decide not to move forward if concerns arise about athlete readiness or commitment.

• Athletes in this group are expected to set the tone for younger swimmers through focus, consistency, and leadership.




15 & 17 team





This team is composed of high-performing athletes who demonstrate strong technical, artistic, and competitive ability, with a focus on excelling at national-level events.
• Designed for swimmers ages 15 to 17 who are highly experienced and committed to advanced training.
• Practices emphasize peak technical execution, athletic endurance, complex choreography, and artistic refinement.
• Athletes train a minimum of three days per week, with additional practices required for solos, duets, and combo routines.
• Extra routines involve added time and financial commitment families must approve costs associated with coaching, pool time, and competition fees.
• The Head Coach will consult with families before assigning any extra routine, ensuring readiness and availability.
• The coaching staff reserves the right to decline extra routines if there are concerns about commitment or team dynamics.
• Athletes in this group are expected to model leadership, maturity, and discipline for younger teammates.
