Meet our Coaches



Our professional coaching staff brings experience at both national and international levels, ensuring expert guidance and athlete development at every stage.

Victoria Anderson



Head Coach



Coach Victoria began her artistic swimming career with the Menomonee Falls Dolphinettes, Ann Arbor Aquarians, and the MIT collegiate team. She has coached since 1996 and judged since 1998, finding the greatest joy in mentoring athletes. She is a World Aquatics Technical Controller, Pan American Aquatics Judge, and Chair of the South Zone Victoria holds degrees in nuclear engineering and political science from MIT and works in the nuclear energy industry. Though she no longer competes in masters synchronized swimming, she stays active through triathlons worldwide



Erica matsui



Coach



With over a decade of competitive and coaching experience, Coach Erica brings high-level performance and athlete development expertise to NoVa Synchro. Competed for 10 years with Ridgewood YWCA Synchro Stars and M Synchro in New Jersey. National finalist in solo, duet, and combo named to the East Zone Junior All-Star Team. Collegiate athlete for the University of Toronto—6th in solo, 3rd in team at nationals. Coached Intermediate and Age Group athletes at M Synchro led the Junior team at Toronto Artistic Swimming Club for 4 years. Currently in her 2nd season coaching with NoVa Synchro. Certified Level 2 DTC (Difficulty Technical Controller), committed to guiding athletes toward their full potential.



Maya Mau



Coach



Coach Maya swam for various teams in the greater New York City area, finishing up her artistic swimming career with the New Canaan Aquianas. In swimming with the Aquianas, she made finals at Junior Nationals. She moved to DC last year to for a staff position with the U.S. Senate and joined NoVa Synchro's coaching staff.



Keeley Lawner



Coach



Coach Keeley has coached for NoVa Synchro for the last three years. Before that, she lived and coached in NYC for two teams. She grew up in Florida, competing with teams in and around Tampa for a decade before going to college at Wake Forest. She lives in Maryland with her husband Ben and 8 month-old daughter, Eloise, and works in tech.



Wendy Kaufmann



Coach



Coach Wendy swam for the Synchromaids of Central Massachusetts. She also judged in New England and swam with the masters team there. After moving to DC last year, she started swimming with the DC Synchromasters and coaching with NoVa Synchro. She's looking forward to seeing what the athletes accomplish this year.



Sam Snidarich



Coach



Coach Sam swam throughout high school in Minnesota, and joined NoVa Synchro's coaching staff last season to get involved in the sport again. Outside of the pool, she is a teacher in DC and proud cat caretaker.



Avery McKay



Coach



Coach Avery is starting her second season with NoVa Synchro. She teaches high school history in DC and used to swim for the Richmond Dolpholinias. She is excited to meet everybody and to have a great season!



Irene Choi



Coach



Irene Choi joined the M Synchronized Swimming Team at age 8 and trained with the team for 10 years. She has two years of coaching experience with her home club and has competed in a variety of competitions earning several national medals across the duet, team, and acrobatics categories - including first place in 18-19 free duet at 2025 National Junior Olympics. She is currently a college student at GWU studying business and economics and hopes to share her passion for the sport with the team.



Laura Best



Coach



Coach Laura grew up swimming for the Chicago Sea Stars and went on to for Boston University’s team. She coached BU from 2020-2023 before moving to Virginia for grad school at GMU. She is so excited to start this season!



Kathleen McLean



Coach



Coach Kathleen swam for NoVa Synchro from 2004-2011 and then coached from 2015-2021 before going to grad school, and rejoined the coaching staff last season. She has also been swimming with DC Synchromasters since 2016.



Sarah Nordlinger



Coach



Coach Sarah grew up swimming for NoVa Synchro and graduated from William & Mary this past May. She is excited to be back in the area for her gap year while she applies to medical school and works at a sports medicine practice.



Alex Provasnik



Coach



Coach Alex swam for NoVa Synchro from 2014-2021. She just graduated from Bates College in May where she double majored in chemistry and art. The past few months, she was working at a kids pottery program in Maine. She recently moved back to Virginia and is super excited to meet everyone and be coaching!
